Scalable Controlled Environment
Production
The efficiencies of our production system versus above
ground and growth chamber alternatives provide the missing link
between commercial level production and the benefits of controlled
environment technology. Our ability to deliver a reliable, consistent
production setting enables the control of environmental “triggers”
that affect crop production.
Variable Isolation
Large scale tests can be undertaken in a consistent, repeatable
environment to measure physiological and other responses to desired
isolated production variables, including:
- Nutritional profile
- Temperature
- Light levels
- Atmospheric conditions
- Humidity
- Water
- Light quality
- Light quantity
Containment
CPV’s production system is designed to be exempt from APHIS
field test permit requirements. We can provide a superior high biosafety
level (BL3-P) negative pressure production alternative to above
ground facilities at a significant cost advantage.
Isolated Production
CPV’s underground location provides a natural barrier to ensure
the integrity of the production environment when necessary. We can
offer a positive pressure production setting that helps eliminate
undesired production variables including pests and disease.
Plants as Protein Factories
The use of plants to produce therapeutic proteins is a growing application
of biotechnology that will enable the safer, faster, and cheaper
production of life saving drugs. The advantages of using plants
to express proteins over alternatives such as fermentation or mammalian
cells include:
- scalable production capacity
- lower capital requirements
- reduced risk of viral and animal protein contamination.
We use controlled environment expertise to accelerate development
and production of plants, reducing time to market for new and valuable
compounds, adding significant value for developers. Our production
system is contained and confined, meaning that crops and plants
grown in our system are prevented from introduction into the environment.
Research has shown that environmental inputs can affect the way
plant express proteins. Because we can control and monitor the inputs
that affect plant growth, we can deliver a repeatable production
environment that can be validated to meet cGMP guidelines as necessary.
